Driver’s body recovered after fatal car crash and fire

LAKEWOOD, Colorado – The body of a driver whose car crashed into a utility pole and caught fire has been found after an accident early Sunday morning.
The accident happened at North Harlan Street and West 6th Avenue at around 4 a.m.
Lakewood Police said the vehicle rolled off the roadway and collided with a pole and utility pole, causing the vehicle to end up on its side at the southwest corner of the intersection .
The car was completely engulfed in flames when police arrived at the scene, Lakewood Police said.
After the fire was extinguished, it was determined that the body found inside the vehicle was that of the driver; no other occupants were found inside the vehicle, Lakewood authorities said.
The identity of the driver is not disclosed at this time. Police say toxicology will be done to determine if there has been alcohol or drugs.
Investigators do not believe there were any other cars or people involved in this accident.
