Elkhart Jazz Festival kicks off
ELKHART, Ind – The beloved Elkhart Jazz Festival is back after taking a hiatus in 2020.
People from all walks of life come to Elkhart this time of year for what they consider to be one of the country’s biggest festivals.
“This festival is very eclectic. There are so many different styles of jazz. There is rock jazz, there is Latin jazz, there are so many different styles of jazz that are going to be played here that it’s something thing for everyone. ” said artist Jim Catalano
Typically, the festival has more than 7 or 8 stages, allowing artists to play three to five performances, but with COVID restrictions differentiating by state, there will be fewer stages and performers this year.
“So for a typical year, we can take 20 or more artists to the airport. This year, for comparison, we have 6 or 7 arriving.” said Ben Decker, co-chair of the jazz festival.
Whatever the changes, the community is out, enjoying every moment of fun they missed in 2020.
“We’re just thrilled to have a gig and to come back and play live music and of course our favorite music which is jazz.” said Jim
The Jazz Festival begins on Thursday June 17 and ends on Sunday June 20.
