This winter, discover new ways to see form, light and shadow with the immersive art experience: mosaic of light by the collective of artists HYBYCOZO in Discovery Green. The installation will be visible every day during park opening hours from November 12, 2021 to February 27, 2022. The exhibition consists of 24 laser-cut metal sculptures. The site-specific display will be placed along Brown Drive, or suspended from the towering oak trees, and illuminated from within at night. During the day, the sculptures are gold jewels that glisten in the sun. Visitors are invited to share their experiences using the hashtag #mosaicoflight. The Mosaic Music Lounge is scheduled from Friday, November 11, 2021 through February 27, 2022, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., except December 3, 24, 31, and January 14, 2022. More information is available at

DACAMERA presents Sharon Isbin & Jessica Rivera: Of love and nostalgia February 4
DACAMERA, a Houston-based chamber music and jazz concert presenter, continues its 2021-22 chamber music series with a performance by guitarist Sharon Isbin and soprano Jessica Rivera on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. at Zilkha Hall , Leisure center. In Of love and nostalgia, Isbin and Rivera join forces for a seductive program of Spanish and Latin American songs and solo guitar music. The show will also feature works by Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo (Aranjuez, My Thought, a tribute to the composer’s beloved hometown of Aranjuez) and the contemporary Argentinian-American composer Osvaldo Golijov (staged by Lua Descolorida by the Spanish poet Rosalía de Castro), as well as Heitor Villa-Lobos, Xavier Montsalvatge and Manuel de Falla. Koresh Dance Company
performance at the Kaplan Theater
Join Israeli-born choreographer and artistic director Ronen (Roni) Koresh with his unique blend of ballet, modernity and jazz that dazzles audiences. Kinder HSPBA will open the show with a piece specially choreographed for them by Koresh. La Danse by the Koresh Dance Company combines tender, joyful, passionate and humorous interpretations of the three permutations of Matisse’s painting beginning with “Le bonheur de vivre” followed by the two versions of “La Danse”; the work is danced to an original musical composition by John Levis and poetry by Karl Mullen. The performance is scheduled for Saturday, February 19 at 8 p.m. at the Kaplan Theater on the campus of the Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, 56015 S. Braeswood in Houston. Tickets are $20 for members, $30 for the public and $15 for students.

The Young Artist Concerto Competition auditions are scheduled for February 20
Each spring, ECHO hosts a Young Artist Concerto Competition for talented middle and high school students located in the Houston area. The competition winner performs with the orchestra at the annual spring concert as a guest artist. The competition is open to Houston-area students currently enrolled in a public or private school or participating in an accredited home-schooling program. Qualified string, brass, wind, percussion, or piano instrumentalists between grades 6 and 12 must be available to audition on Sunday, February 20 at Lanier Middle School from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The winner will perform with ECHO on May 6. The Kite Festival returns to Miller Hill
On Sunday, March 27, Hermann Park Conservancy will host the return of kite festival at the park! This family event will take place on the Miller Hill and Jones Reflection Pool, and is completely free. In addition to flying more kites than you can count, the whole family can enjoy a variety of food vendors, shows, arts and crafts, kids’ activities, and more. again. Dust off those kites, practice and mark those calendars for the kite festival to recover. The festivities take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
