Fort Morgan welcomes live music again with The Jazz Section – The Fort Morgan Times
Live music is officially back in Fort Morgan, with the first Thursday Night Live taking place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 3 at Downtown City Park. The Jazz section welcomed the citizens with a 1.5 hour set featuring many jazz standards, as well as a fun rendition of some Latin numbers and even a hit from the Jackson Five.
Dozens of citizens unrolled their picnic blankets and set up their lawn chairs to enjoy the summer evening. Blue Ribbon BBQ and Smoke, Morningwood Coffee, Prohibition Desserts and a Young Life tent offered a variety of food and drink options for people to purchase throughout the event.
There was a bounce house for the kids and the town of Fort Morgan also handed out small inflatable volleyballs.
The Jazz section consists of a group of six musicians with a pianist, a drummer, a saxophonist, a bassist and two singers.
It was clear that community members were eager to get together in the park and enjoy a live show. It was a full crowd and just the first night of Thursday Night Live is a good sign of attendance for the rest of the summer.
The next event at Downtown City Park will be a fireside chat at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, where community members are invited to ask questions of their city officials and the city. Mayor Ron Shaver, Police Chief Loren Sharp and City Manager Steve Glammeyer will all be in attendance.
Questions are encouraged to be submitted in advance to [email protected]
At the end of the chat, a screening of the film “Harry and the Hendersons” will begin at 9 pm for free.
