Jazz re:freshed Weekly, the live series that spotlights emerging talent on the UK jazz scene, will return this fall after a three-year hiatus with a new residency in East London.

The residency takes place every Thursday from 9pm at 91 Living Room in Brick Lane. The series will kick off on September 1 with a performance by DoomCannon, the project led by London-based pianist, composer and producer Dominic Canning.

There are additional shows in September from up-and-coming artists including Parisian bassist and vocalist Amy Gadiaga, Hackney-born pianist and BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year winner Deschanel Gordon, and Colectiva (pictured), who mix the Africa, Latin and Jazz. styles.

Jazz re:freshed Weekly was launched in 2003 as a key space to discover the UK’s most exciting new jazz talent, as well as an opportunity to catch performances by more established artists who have grown through to the Jazz re:freshed movement, including Nubya Garcia, Ezra Collective, Shabaka Hutchings, Moses Boyd and Ashley Henry.

Adam Moses, Jazz re:freshed co-founder, events curator and label executive, said: “The team at Jazz re:freshed are thrilled to bring the weekly back into the real world and into a new home of east London. We all want to support the cultivation of young female talent and diverse cultures, giving artists the opportunity to perform in front of a respectful and music-appreciating audience. It is equally important for us to ensure the diversity of audiences as well as musicians and we are committed to continuing this work.

Tickets will be available through Dice.FM. PPL is sponsoring the live series.

PPL CEO Peter Leathem said: “In recent years we have seen a revival of British jazz as a new generation of talented artists and musicians have developed the genre and created critically acclaimed music. . Jazz re:freshed has played a valuable role in supporting this up-and-coming talent and the return of Jazz re:freshed Weekly will provide even more artists with the opportunity to establish and grow their careers. PPL is proud to support Jazz re:fresh Weekly and support this important and exciting space for new music.
