Krannert Center announces 2022-23 season : SPlog : Smile Politely
The Krannert Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Illinois announces the 2022-23 performance season, featuring emerging artists, returning favorites and performances previously canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Events from September to May feature national and international artists as well as performances by university students in music, theatre, opera and dance.
The year kicks off with opening night on Friday, September 9, featuring free live performances by Gracie and Rachel, Mariachi Herencia de México, Soul Rebels and Cotton Candy Theremin in an environment the whole family will enjoy. The celebration continues on Saturday, September 10 with ticketed events from Jerry Douglas and The Second City and free appearances from the Chad Lawson Trio.
Tickets for the September and October events will go on sale to the public on August 10. Customers can purchase tickets to performances by Marquee guest artists, including PYGMALION: Mwenso and the Shakes, Circa, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and more. Ticket sales also begin August 10 for Illinois Theater’s A Darkling at Nightfall, Lyric Theater @ Illinois’ A Little Night Music, and Dance at Illinois’ October Dance 2022. Ticket on-sale dates for events in November and beyond are listed below and online at KrannertCenter.com/events/how-buy-tickets. Performances include Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Dublin Irish Dance, Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, Urinetown: The Musical (Illinois Theatre), Carnival! (Lyric Theater @Illinois), Studiodance 2023 (Dance at Illinois), and a full lineup of additional events.

Since 1969, the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts has offered a vibrant selection of music, theater and dance programs. Purchased tickets that cannot be used can be returned by phone by 6:00 p.m. the day before the show for a full credit issued to a Krannert Center gift card that never expires and can be used for tickets, food or drinks.
