As Covid-19 cases increase in the United States, could concert cancellations return?

Bizkit box announced over the weekend that all dates for the August tour were canceled, including a show scheduled for Monday, August 9 at the Rapids Theater in Niagara Falls, NY.The band had just returned to the stage a week ago during ‘a full-capacity Chicago Lollapalooza festival, which is making headlines with singer Fred Durst’s new “Dad Vibes” look.

“Out of prudence and concern for the safety of the group, the team and especially the fans, the Limp Bizkit show this Monday and the remaining tour of August are canceled. Refunds are available at their points of purchase. tickets purchased online will be automatically refunded, ”said a statement.

According to Rolling Stone, Durst has denied rumors that guitarist Wes Borland has Covid-19, telling fans on Instagram that “the system is seriously flawed” and “We don’t care much about BS… We care a lot about BS. you”. It’s unclear if the group plans to continue performing in September or if the West New York show will be rescheduled at some point.

In related news, Lynyrd skynyrd canceled four concerts this month after longtime band member Rickey Medlocke tested positive for Covid-19. No shows in upstate New York are affected yet, but the group “Sweet Home Alabama” is currently scheduled to perform at CMAC in Canandaigua on August 19 and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) in Saratoga Springs on August 19. August 28.

Last week the singer Michel Bublé postponed an August 25 concert at the Times Union Center, postponing the Albany Hall until October 19.

“I don’t want to endanger my fans, nor my group and my team, by putting them in a situation that could possibly affect their health and therefore their friends and family. It’s best for me to reschedule these shows at a time when we are all convinced that we can relax and enjoy the show, ”said Buble.

Sebastian Bach, who is due to perform at the del Lago Resort & Casino in Waterloo on September 25, said he tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday after giving several shows and attending his wife’s high school reunion.

“Thank goodness for the vaccine, can’t wait to get another one, all symptoms are gone now without canceling the shows,” said the former Skid Row singer.

The New Orleans Jazz Fest has also been postponed from October to spring 2022 due to the spread of the delta variant of Covid in Louisiana. And Billboard reports that Garth Brooks is re-evaluating his stadium tour after the next two shows; tickets to a Seattle concert have been suspended.

Most concerts in upstate New York are currently going as planned, but live events have largely been canceled in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Concerns are high as the seven-day average of new daily Covid-19 infections has now exceeded 100,000 in the United States, returning to levels not seen since the winter surge.
