The final concert in the Boomerang series will feature jazz and classical music by a group of artists from Chilliwack.

Shining the spotlight on local musicians, Boomerang Eight with Emily Wright arrives at the Chilliwack Cultural Center on May 14.

“Boomerang Eight will be a mix of classical and jazz music presented by solos, duos and small ensembles, featuring local composers and original music by young local artists,” Wright said.

There will be flute and clarinet duets, clarinet and clarinet duets, a solo guitarist and a little jazz combo to top off the evening.

“The latest installment in the Boomerang series is going to bring together a very diverse group of young performers in terms of abilities and playing styles,” said program lead Amber Bergeron. “There’s going to be a good balance of experience and a sliding scale of genre from completely classical to unmistakably jazz, with new music composed by a few performers and performed by local musicians – some of whom have been playing together for years. , and others who only recently met.

“Emily has compiled her acts reminiscent of her high school music career, as well as her current career, and she will weave a little story about her journey through music as the show progresses. She also recently picked up a new instrument in which this will be her first performance with him. If audiences want to see a group of talented youngsters having fun playing what they love, this is the show for them.

Perfect for a laid-back evening of local talent, Boomerang Eight will once again feature Chilliwack’s best and newest musical acts in a cabaret-style setting.

Boomerang Eight with Emily Wright arrives at the Chilliwack Cultural Center May 14 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Center box office, online at www.chilliwackculturalcentre.ca or by calling 604-391-SHOW(7469).
