Music Venue Trust announces numbers for a series of concerts at Grassroots Music venues in London
Charity The Music Venue Trust (MVT) has joined forces with FREE NOW (a leading mobility app provider and main sponsor of the Mercury Prize) to join forces to announce a series of concerts by an eclectic range of performers in popular London venues
The dates are part of a series of concerts organized by TVM and supported by FREE NOWas part of a partnership that will see the latter sponsor the costs of 120 shows from here Mercury Prize hopefuls in 60 popular music venues in London, Edinburgh and Manchester. The series, which will run in 2022 and 2023, highlights the crucial role of popular venues within the music industry ecosystem by providing platforms for emerging and established artists. Internationally renowned jazz harpist Alina Bzhezhinska and her trio have already performed as part of the initiative.

John Doherty – West Hampstead Arts Club; August 12 Fat Mannequin + BLOKE + Sierpinski – Vintage paper dress; August 13, José McGill and the wanderer – Green note; August 19, Seun Kuti – Fox and Firkin, SE13; 20 August, You nuns – The Lexington, N1; August 25, Longheads + Butch Kassidy – Bermondsey Social Club; September 1st, Rossa Murry- The Harrison.
Russell Occomore of Jazzlive at the Crypt, where the Sultan Stevenson Trio will perform, said, “We are thrilled to bring some of FREE NOW’s shows to The Crypt. We are a niche venue promoting jazz music and it is often difficult to find sponsors and partners in the private sector who recognize the importance of popular venues in nurturing our wonderful music scene. Therefore, we are delighted to be part of this initiative.”
As part of the initiative, leading rock band Public Service Broadcasting will play a show at Peckham Audio on August 23, the first of three “hero” shows that will see big artists return to small, popular music venues.
