Ripon’s concerts mix

Classico Latino will provide an evening of warmth, joy and life when The Classics meet Latin America at 7:30 p.m. on December 6 at Holy Trinity Church, Ripon
“Blending the passion and vitality of authentic Latin music with the mellow sound and virtuosity of classical tradition, Classico Latino brings a new perspective to the world of Latin American music, breathing new life into songs from across the continent. “said a spokesperson for Ripon Concerts.
Classico Latino was born in 1998 from a chance meeting between Colombian pianist Ivan Guevara and English cellist Graham Walker.
Since then, the group has developed their unique and powerful blend of classical finesse and Latin flair, entertaining audiences at Ronnie Scott’s jazz club in London at the foothills of the Colombian Andes.
The group has performed and recorded in Colombia, Cuba, UK and Europe and has broadcast on Classic FM and Radio 3.
Their fifth album, Havana Classic, was a finalist for Album of the Year at the 2019 UK Latin Awards.
This was recorded at the famous EGREM studios in Havana, which are home to many recordings of the Bueno Vista Social Club. The album features a number of notable Cuban musicians.
Tickets of £ 20 (adults), £ 5 (students) and free for children are available at www.riponconcerts.co.uk or at the Little Ripon bookstore.
